Biography
Led by songwriter, drummer, and lead vocalist Joseph Porter, Blyth Power is one of England's best club bands. Named after a diesel locomotive, the group has been described as a mix between the Clash, Steeleye Span, and the Rubettes. Porter has written two books: Genesis to Revolutions, which chronicles the early-'80s British punk scene, and a fictional autobiography of poet Benjamin Johnson. Since February 2000, he's balanced his involvement with Blyth Power with his participation in an acoustic trio, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, whose debut CD, Going Down with Alice, was released on Porter's own label, Whippet Records. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
