Biography
After five years on the mixtape circuit, quirky Los Angeles-based hip-hop group OverDoz. landed a major-label record deal via the RCA imprint Polo Grounds. Featuring rappers Joon, P, Kent, and Creamie, OverDoz. first earned comparisons to OutKast and Digital Underground in 2008 when they released their debut mixtape, Bowties and Rosaries. Further mixtapes Nova (2010) and Live for, Die For (2011) helped spread the word, but it was the flashy and kinetic uploaded videos for tracks like "Growin' Pains" and "Come First" that really increased the numbers, counting up views in the hundreds of thousands. In 2013 their Boom! mixtape landed, with appearances from Juicy J, Nipsey Hussle, DJ Drama, and others, and by the end of the year they signed with Polo Grounds and joined labelmate A$AP Ferg on his Turnt and Burnt Tour across the U.S. Over the next couple of years, they began issuing singles, some of them featuring high-profile guests like Pharrell Williams on 2015's "Last Kiss." That single and a handful of others, like the Hit-Boy-produced "Rich White Friends" and the A$AP Ferg-assisted "Fuck Yo DJ," later appeared on 2008, the group's 2017 full-length debut. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
