Biography
A band that rocks like a raw Blondie or early Cheap Trick with an indie edge, Dayton, OH's Shesus has a membership with quite the indie rock history. Vocalist Heather Newkirk had been in the Indicators and robthebank, bassist Kari Murphy had played with Lazy, guitarist Michelle Bodine had been in Brainiac, Omatic, and briefly with the Breeders, while original drummer Craig Nichols spent time with Terrifying Experience, Omatic, and toured with Guided by Voices. Newkirk and Bodine started work on Shesus in 1999. The original five-piece Shesus with guitarist Kim Carter landed a deal with Narnack Records who released their debut, Loves You...Loves You Not, in 2003. Two months later Carter decided the touring lifestyle was not for her and left the band right after they finished a session for the famous BBC DJ John Peel. Shesus stuck with the four-piece lineup and by 2004 Nichols was replaced with new drummer Dave Colvin for a short tour with the Fall. The same year the band issued a seven-song EP, Ruined It for You. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
