The Nicky James Movement
Biography
The Nicky James Movement was a band formed in Birmingham, England, by singer/guitarist Nicky James in the wake of his departure from Denny the Diplomats. Although they never got to record, they were active across a two-year period, and their members included several musicians on the "Brumbeat" scene (as the locals called it) who later became important. Their original drummer was Bev Bevan, later of the Move and the Electric Light Orchestra, and he was succeeded by John Bonham, the future Led Zeppelin superstar drummer -- Bonham was actually in this band at just about the same time that Robert Plant first approached him about working together. Their bassist at one point was Tony Clarkson, later of the World of Oz, and some sources claim that Roy Wood of the Move and ELO and Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues passed through their membership. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
