Nosky was born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, on July 11, 1978. Her training was almost exclusively Canadian. She studied the violin in Nanaimo from age three, inspired by seeing a violin played on Sesame Street. Nosky gave her first concert at eight, with the CBC Vancouver Orchestra, and she studied at the Nanaimo Conservatory with Heilwig von Königslöw. At 15, she left home and moved to Toronto, studying with Lorand Fenyves at the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Nosky had further training at the Banff Center for the Arts in Alberta and at Ravinia Festival outside Chicago, where she performed from 1993 to 1999 with the Metro String Quartet. She formed the I Furiosi Baroque Ensemble and toured with the group in the U.S., Britain, and continental Europe. She is also a founding member and co-artistic director of the Eybler Quartet, which specializes in historical performances of music from the Classical period. Nosky was a member of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and then, from 2005 to 2016, of Tafelmusik. In 2011, she was named the concertmaster of the orchestra of the venerable Handel and Haydn Society. Dividing her time between Toronto and Boston, she often plays contemporary music as well as early music in concert. Nosky has performed with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and Holland Baroque, among others.
Nosky has recorded for the Coro label, joining the Handel and Haydn Society for recordings of Haydn's violin concertos, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, K. 364, and other works. In 2021, she began a new cycle of Mozart's violin concertos with the group. She teaches as part of a course called "EQ: Evolution of the String Quartet" at the Banff Centre. ~ James Manheim, Rovi
