Biography
Taking influence from artists ranging from Bon Iver to Solange, Denai Moore's artful, introspective songs blend parts R&B, folk, rock, and electronic music. After her first album, Elsewhere (2015), the soulful singer shifted the balance from more organic to more manipulated sounds by third album Modern Dread (2020).

Moore was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, where she lived until the age of ten, when her family moved to the Stratford district of London, England. Her father taught her to play keyboards as a child, and after adding guitar to her skill set, she began playing open-mike nights around London as a teenager. She was in her late teens when she signed with independent label Because Music and released her debut EP, 2013's Saudade. Receiving support from BBC Radio, she appeared on TV's Later…With Jools Holland and released second EP The Lake before the end of the year. Its title track was produced by Plan B.

A guest spot on SBTRKT's Top 20 album Wonder Where We Land in 2014 boosted Moore's profile further, and her full-length debut, the Rodaidh McDonald-produced Elsewhere, followed on Because Music in 2015. Her next album, 2017's We Used to Bloom, saw her working with producer Steph Marziano (Hayley Williams, Boniface). Delving deeper into electronics, the otherworldly Modern Dread saw release in 2020. It was produced by Everything Everything guitarist Alex Robertshaw. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
