Biography
The music of the globe converges through the performances and recordings of saxophonist, flautist, and composer Daniele Sepe. While rooted in improvisational jazz, Sepe has found inspiration in everything from free-form jazz and medieval chant to hip-hop and electronic dance music. A graduate of the Conservatory of Naples, with a degree in flute performance, Sepe went on to study saxophone and composition. After a long period as a sideman for bands led by G. Paoli, R. DeSimone, T. De Sio, and R. Murolo, he launched his solo career in the early '90s. His debut solo album, Mulamusica -- Il Parco, released in 1991, was compared to the innovative recordings of Frank Zappa and Nino Rota. Music from his 1994 album Vite Perdite was used by filmmaker Mario Martone for his film #Amore Molesto. The album was reissued globally in 1996. Sepe continues to perform with his bands, Art Enemble of Soccavo and Tuba Furious. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
