Biography
The Scandinavian noise and power electronics supergroup Body Sculptures came together one night in 2014 in Copenhagen. Formed by Loke Rahbek -- owner of Posh Isolation and member of Damien Dubrovnik and Lust for Youth -- Swedish composer Erik Enocksson, Frederikke Hoffmeier (better known as Puce Mary) -- Ossian Ohlsson (aka Vit Fana), and the consistently prolific Jonas Rönnberg (also known as Varg and co-owner of Swedish label Northern Electronics). Eschewing the usual group method of focusing on a specific sound, each member would bring random instruments and synths to the recording and performance process, with the members playing off each other in order to delve into musical territory they wouldn't normally venture. Body Sculptures debuted their live show at electronic festival Berlin Atonal in August 2015 -- the incredibly powerful and intense experience was a major talking point of the festival. The group's debut release also came just a month after that show, with the 7" single "The Base of All Beauty Is the Body," released on Rahbek's Posh Isolation. A limited-edition version, which included an LP-length bonus cassette, was also issued. 2016 saw the group deliver their full length debut album, A Body Turns to Eden, once again on Posh Isolation. Inspired in part by a photograph of a Moroccan garden that Rahbek had seen online, the album walked the line between intense bursts of experimental noise and lush, ambient electronics. ~ Rich Wilson, Rovi
