Biography
New York City's Sea Ray brew a provocative blend of indie pop, space rock, and classic psychedelia that sets the band apart from the scene's slew of post-punk revivalists. Born in the late-'90s in Brooklyn, the group released their eponymous debut in 1997, followed by an EP produced by Tobin Sprout (Guided By Voices) in 1999. The group shared the stage with such luminaries as the Church and Yo La Tengo, eventually releasing the Revelry EP in 2001 to the delight of critics and college radio. As their local popularity grew so did their stage show, which now featured complex film and video projections. After receiving regional and international acclaim, the now fully formed sextet -- cellist Anne Brewster, drummer Colin Brooks, bass player I-Huei Go, keyboardist Jeff Sheinkopf, guitarist Greg Zinman, and vocalist/guitarist Jordan Warner -- began work on their first full-length record. Stars at Noon was released in the summer of 2003 on The Self-Starter Foundation label. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
