Biography
When North Carolina underground rap group Little Brother debuted in 2003 with their strongly soul-flavored hip-hop album The Listening, it provided a platform for the other members of their Justus League collective to gain exposure. Little Brother's road manager, Big Dho, saw the need to upgrade his business duties in order to develop more of the Justus League's talent and more efficiently manage the growing popularity of Little Brother as well as the increasing demand for the collective's main producers, 9th Wonder and Khrysis; therefore, he founded the Hall of Justus Music Group the same year. Although all of the Justus League's members are not necessarily Hall of Justus signees, the imprint has overseen the releases by many of the League's artists, whether distributed via independent labels, like projects by L.E.G.A.C.Y. (Project Mayhem), the Away Team (National Anthem), and Darien Brockington (Somebody to Love), or through the majors, like Little Brother (The Minstrel Show). In fall 2006, using the Hall of Justus name, the North Carolina crew released a full-length compilation showcasing their expanding roster. Soldiers of Fortune was not exclusively an internal effort, featuring frequent collaborators Sean Price and Skyzoo as well as outside production from Buckwild, Nottz, Evidence (of Dilated Peoples), and G-Unit-affiliated producer Black Jeruz. ~ Cyril Cordor, Rovi
