At the age of seven, he asked his parents for a guitar. They complied, though he had no idea how to play. While other kids were outside playing baseball and soccer, he was in his room learning songs by his favorite acts, Los Tigres del Norte, Conjunto Primavera, and Los Temerarios.
Sánchez did eventually learn to play and to sing well. As a young teen he began posting videos of himself on social media networks. With some friends, he formed a band that covered the Beatles and other Anglo pop acts, as well as classic Mexican songs. As they began to play social functions, Sánchez realized it was the Regional Mexican Music that audiences responded to best, and that he felt most comfortable singing. After the band split, he relentlessly pursued a recording contract by utilizing the power of social media networks to get his music heard. Audaciously, he sent an Instagram message to Noel Torres, asking if he could sing with him at an upcoming performance in Sacramento. Torres graciously invited the young man up for a duet. Sánchez felt like he bombed, but considered it a valuable experience in learning how to present himself in front of large audiences.
His social media posts resulted in him being signed to Gerencia 360 in 2013. In June of the following year, he guested on Favela's single "Mis Gustos Mis Placeres," and in September, he delivered his own pre-release single, "Mi Primera Vez," via Gerencia 360/Sony Music, that topped digital download and some radio charts in both Mexican Regional and Latin Pop. His debut album of the same title was released in November of 2016, with the EP Necesito una Compañera dropping the following year. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
