Jorge Luís Piloto
Biography
Songwriter Jorge Luís Piloto enjoyed a long and prolific career as a contemporary Latin pop hitmaker. He wrote songs for numerous performers, among them Chayanne, Rey Ruiz, José José, Luis Enrique, Jerry Rivera, la Mafia, Frankie Negron, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Francesca Cezan, Lourdes Robles, Willie Gonzalez, Yolandita Monge, and salsa queen Celia Cruz, among many others. He also worked his way to the head of Sony's Latin division, and won the inaugural ASCAP award for Latin Songwriter of the Year in 1993. Piloto entered the new millennium on a hot streak, writing number one hits for Jaci Velasquez (Como Se Cura una Harida), Olga Tañon (Como Olvidar), and Pilar Montenegro (Quitame Ese Hombre); the latter two were nominated for Latin Grammy Awards. He also contributed Falsas Esperanzas to Christina Aguilera's Spanish-language album Mi Reflejo. In 2002, he signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
