Biography
British composer, arranger, and pianist Michael Price is noted for his myriad film and television scores, orchestrations for popular musicians, and solo recordings. Price began his career in the 1990s composing music intended for contemporary dance and choreography, numerous albums of which were released in a series by the Control Room. Film composer Michael Kamen asked Price to contribute to the score of 1997 film Event Horizon, which Kamen composed with British electronic duo Orbital. The two collaborated extensively until Kamen's 2003 death, with Price contributing to Kamen's 2000 X-Men score, Metallica's 1999 live album SM, and the soundtrack to 2001 HBO mini-series Band of Brothers. Price edited many soundtracks, including several Lord of the Rings films, starting with 2001's The Fellowship of the Ring, for which he won a Golden Reel Award. Price has worked extensively with David Arnold, initially contributing to the score for Hot Fuzz in 2007, and later scoring BBC series Sherlock, which premiered in 2010. Arnold and Price won an Emmy in 2014 for their work on Season 3 of Sherlock. Price signed to Erased Tapes Records in 2012, releasing an EP, A Stillness, that year, followed by his debut, non-soundtrack, solo full-length Entanglement in 2015. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
