Eight Miles High
from Germany
Biography
Eight Miles High is one of dance music veteran Roman Flügel's many aliases, an alias that has been responsible for a number of genre-spanning 12" releases for the producer's own Klang Elektronik label since the mid-'90s. As Eight Miles High, Flügel is equally likely to create pieces for background listening at museums, club tracks, and more experimental works that are difficult to classify. A self-titled 12" and The Gift appeared in 1996, but Flügel kept EMH relatively silent until 2000, a year that saw another pair of 12" releases, The End of the Beginning and Chamber Musik. In 2002, the Katalog anthology appeared on Klang, presenting an overview for CD consumers. While the moniker is a reference to the Byrds' song of the same name, Flügel was first introduced to the song via Roxy Music's interpretation.
