Biography
Launching the careers of Korn members David Silveria, James Munky Shaffer, Fieldy, and Brian Welch, L.A.P.D. was a far different beast than what its members would move on to. By incorporating elements of funk into their thrashy stew, L.A.P.D. (short for Love and Peace, Dude) fit in with the groove-oriented California scene, performing with groups like Mordred and Psychofunkupus. Featuring all the aforementioned members (although Welch was a roadie) and singer Richard Morrill, they formed in the late 80s in Bakersfield, CA. Signing to Triple X, they released the Love and Peace, Dude EP in 1989. A full-length entitled Who's Laughing Now followed in 1991, but after a year of touring Morrill left the band to take care of his drug problems. The band met up with SexArt singer Jonathan Davis while working the club circuit, and decided to move out to Los Angeles where they started fresh as Korn. A full collection of L.A.P.D.'s recordings was released in 1997. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
