Biography
Along with his work as Interpol's drummer and keyboard rig designer and his stint with Swervedriver's Adam Franklin as one half of Magnetic Morning, Sam Fogarino also founded the project EmptyMansions as a platform for his own songs. Writing while on tour with Interpol from 2009 to 2011, Fogarino was inspired by the words of writers like Hubert Selby Jr. and the music of Neil Young, the Rolling Stones, the Pixies, and Sonic Youth. When it came time to record, he enlisted the help of touring Interpol member Brandon Curtis (formerly of Secret Machines) as EmptyMansions' bassist and producer, and guitarist Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard, Tomahawk). The group recorded its debut album, snakes/vultures/sulfate, from early to mid-2012, and the album was released in April 2013 via Riot House Records. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
