Born in 1988 in Rochester, New York, Geiger learned to play piano and guitar before the age of ten. She began writing songs and was still a teenager when she appeared as a contestant on the VH1 talent show In Search of the New Partridge Family (which also featured a then-unknown Emma Stone). Her appearance caught the attention of producer Billy Mann, who helped launch her career. Following 2005's Step Ladder EP, Geiger signed to Columbia Records, and in 2006 released her debut full-length album, Underage Thinking, which hit number eight on the Billboard 200. The record also spawned two Top 40 singles with "For You I Will (Confidence)" and "These Walls." Buoyed by her success, Geiger moved into acting, starring on the short-lived 2006 CBS TV series Love Monkey and appearing alongside Stone and Rainn Wilson in the 2008 comedy film The Rocker. She returned to music in 2013 with her sophomore album, The Last Fears, released on her own Jabbarock label.
Besides working on her solo material, Geiger has kept busy collaborating with other artists like One Direction, for whom she co-wrote and produced "Little Black Dress" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" for their 2013 album Midnight Memories. She also co-wrote the international hit "Stitches" from Shawn Mendes' 2015 album Handwritten. Some of her other production and instrumental credits include work by John Legend, Timeflies, and Thomas Rhett.
In 2018, Geiger returned to her solo work with LillyAnna, released under the name Teddy <3. That same year, she again paired with Mendes, co-writing and producing 11 songs off his self-titled third album. Shawn Mendes debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned Geiger a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year for the track "In My Blood." Geiger and Mendes also collaborated on a cover of the classic Queen and David Bowie song "Under Pressure," released in conjunction with the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. More studio work followed, including contributions to albums by Olivia O'Brien, Niall Horan, and others. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
