Guitarist and composer Greg Anderson is a stalwart of the doom, sludge, and stoner metal scenes who also records solo music as the Lord. A founding member of influential bands like Goatsnake and Sunn O))) and the owner of Southern Lord Records, Anderson made his debut as the Lord with 2022's cinematic Forest Nocturne, followed later that year by the Petra Haden collaboration Devotional.

Active since the mid-'80s, Anderson's lengthy résumé ranges from hardcore punk (False Liberty) and noise rock (Engine Kid) to prominent doom and death metal acts like Goatsnake and Thorr's Hammer as well as his longtime experimental metal project Sunn O))). His first appearance as the Lord came in 2021 with the cryptic "We Who Walk in Light," a sludgy horror epic featuring Alice in Chains vocalist William Duvall. The Lord's full-length debut, Forest Nocturne, arrived a year later and combined the cinematic tension of composers like John Carpenter and Bernard Herrmann with the harsh tones of Scandinavian death metal.
