Grupo Fundo de Quintal
Biography
Grupo Fundo de Quintal (aka Fundo de Quintal), the pioneers of the pagode style, had their genesis within the Bloco do Cacique. The group started its professional career in 1980 and has won several prizes, including nine Sharp awards (the most important of Brazilian popular music awards). They've sold several million copies of the 19 albums they had recorded up to the year 2000, several of them achieving gold and platinum record status. His songs have also been adopted as the themes for widely popular soap operas. In the late '70s, Beth Carvalho and her producer Rildo Hora (who would be the group's producer) invited the Fundo de Quintal to be supporting musicians for the album Pé No Chão. The founders were Almir Guineto, Jorge Aragão, Neoci, Sereno, Sombrinha, Ubirajara (Bira Presidente), and Ubirany. Arlindo Cruz and Valter 7 Cordas joined as musicians of the early formations. Some of the group's hits are "Vai Na Conversa Dela," "E Eu Não Fui Convidado," "Só Pra Contrariar," "Boca Sem Dente," "Miudinho," "Parabéns Pra Você," "Malandro Sou Eu," "Andei, Andei," "Do Fundo do Nosso Quintal," "Não Sonhando Eu Sou Feliz," "Tô Que Tô." ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
