A hip-hop supergroup from the fringes of the genre, Hail Mary Mallon features MCs and producers Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic. Taking a name that referenced Mary Mallon, the real-life Typhoid Mary, Rock and Sonic debuted the project on the 2009 label compilation Definitive Jux Presents 4. Two years later the Rhymesayers label issued their debut album, Are You Gonna Eat That?, which featured DJ Big Wiz as a third member.
