Biography
Israeli jazz bass player Barak Mori learned to play in Tel Aviv, but it was in New York that he established himself as a sought-after player. Born in Tel Aviv in 1975, he began playing organ at age seven. Within five years he had picked up jazz guitar and electric bass. His classical bass training started when he was 15, at the Thelma Yelin School of the Arts, which led to a spot touring internationally with the Young Israeli Philharmonic. He received a scholarship to study in New York in 1998, opening many doors for his career. During his time in America, he became highly sought after, performing and recording alongside artists such as Kenny Washington, David Hazeltine, and Paula West. He moved back to Israel in 2016, going on to teach at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Working with Avishai Cohen, Yonathan Avishai, and Ziv Ravitz, he released Naked Truth in 2022. ~ Liam Martin, Rovi
