By the early '70s, he was not only drumming for Classics IV, but served as the house drummer for the Lowery Group, playing on sessions by Joe South, Johnny Nash, Clarence Carter, and others. He moved to Los Angeles in 1976 and continued playing sessions as well as touring with the likes of Walter Egan, Lindsey Buckingham, Chris Hillman, Gene Clark, Joe Walsh, Etta James, Albert Collins, and Juice Newton.
