Big Pooh
Biography
A member of the hip-hop group Little Brother and a solo artist as well, Rapper Big Pooh launched his music career while attending North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. There he met DJ/producer 9th Wonder along with rapper Phonte, both of whom joined up with Big Pooh to form the Little Brother trio in 1998. Little Brother were signed to the Atlantic label and hit their stride with 2005's sophomore LP The Minstrel Show, which was released the same year as Pooh's solo debut, Sleepers. 9th Wonder contributed to the MC's sophomore solo release, 2009's The Delightful Bars, then in 2010 Little Brother announced their disbandment. Mixtapes like the Raekwon-honoring The Purple Tape and the Fat Boy Fresh series brought Pooh to 2014 and a solo record deal with the Mello Music Group. Home Sweet Home, a collaborative album with producer Nottz, appeared on the label in 2015. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
