Formed in 2010 by vocalist and keyboardist Daron Beck and drummer and keyboardist Jon Teague after the death of bassist and Great Tyrant bandmate Tommy Atkins, the newly minted Pinkish Black -- the name refers to the viscera left behind on the wall of the bathroom where Atkins ended his life -- released their harrowing eponymous debut album in 2012 via Handmade Birds. That same year saw Beck and Teague ink a deal with Century Media, which would release their doomy sophomore effort, Razed to the Ground, in 2013. They relocated to Relapse for album number three, the mercurial Bottom of the Morning, which invoked names like Goblin, John Carpenter, and Tilt-era Scott Walker -- 2014 also saw the release of The Trouble with Being Born, which featured the final works of the Great Tyrant. The uncompromising and despair-ridden Concept Unification arrived in 2019. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
