Growing up in Tottenham’s Broadwater Farm estate, rapper DoubleLz was naturally drawn to his neighborhood's burgeoning rap collective, OFB (Original Farm Boys), already home to rap talents like Headie One and RV. Having cut his teeth in the rap game alongside fellow Broadwater MCs BandoKay and SJ, Lz eventually began putting his verses to tape, first appearing on OFB posse cut “Bruck It” in February 2018. Soon, the trio combined their efforts as Y.OFB (Young OFB), moving through late 2018 with brutal anthems “GMs in the Cut,” “Bad B on the Nizz," "Already,” and “Reality.” While Lz and his collaborators were already favorites among U.K. drill die-hards, it was their show-stopping performance on freestyle platform “Next Up?” that brought the OFB to the fore. Soon becoming a classic of the genre, the trio’s “Next Up?” appearance offered a perfect demonstration of their back-to-back synergy, rapid-paced flows, and strong individual deliveries. DoubleLz’s frosty delivery and blunt lyricism provided the perfect contrast to the frenetic energy of BandoKay and malice-driven bars from SJ.
With "Next Up?" continuing to rack up views in the multi-millions, DoubleLz and his OFB collaborators continued to grow their fan base, offering similarly viral showings on platforms like "Hardest Bars" and Tim Westwood's "Crib Sessions." Their biggest hit to date came with May 2019's "Ambush," a haunting anthem that proved yet another testament to the trio's synergy on the mike. While SJ found himself battling legal issues, the remaining duo set to establishing the OFB catalog, releasing debut mixtape Frontstreet on Halloween 2019. In SJ’s absence, Lz released solo track “Hooked,” as well as appearing on Tim Westwood’s freestyle show and Morrisson’s “Shots (Remix)” alongside Bando. When SJ was incarcerated on serious charges in early 2020, Lz and Bando continued to build a career as a duo, retaining their U.K.-wide prominence with bold anthems like "OT Boppin" and a range of high-profile collaborations. The second mixtape under the OFB name, Drill Commandments, was issued by the duo in February 2021; with features from Loski, Mowgs, and the wider OFB roster, the tape was primarily comprised of fiery drill cuts. ~ David Crone, Rovi
