Randy
Biography
Randy, a melodic reggaeton singer à la Zion, enjoyed success as a member of both Jowell Randy (a duo) and Casa de Leones (a group), as well as on his own as a solo artist. Born Randy A. Ortiz Acevedo in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1983, he became involved with the burgeoning reggaeton scene during the late '90s. His singing was influenced by English-language RB, in addition to Latin pop. Randy had his first major solo hit in 2004 with Soy una Gargola, though he experienced even greater success alongside others in the years that followed. In particular, he was a featured guest on big hits by De la Ghetto (Sensacion del Bloque) and Tito el Bambino (Siente el Boom) in 2006 and 2007, respectively. As part of the group Casa de Leones, he scored another big hit in 2007: No Te Veo. By this point, Randy was one of the best-known reggaeton singers on the scene, along with Zion (of Zion Lennox), and his solo career seemed mighty promising. For instance, his solo feature on Luny Tunes' Los Benjamins: La Continuacion (2007), Welcome to My Crib, showcased his hit potential well. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
