Billy Miller
Biography
Billy Miller was a rock & roll singer best known for his work with the A-Bones, the rockabilly band that he co-founded with his wife, drummer Miriam Linna. The two had worked together previously in the new wave band (also with a rockabilly bent) the Zantees. Beyond his own music-making, Miller was a serious collector and archivist in music. The various activities of Miller and Linna in both music and publishing -- most notably the magazine Kicks -- made the pair a vital source of information about music out of the past, of rock & roll and a lot of other kinds of music as well. Norton Records, in particular -- which the two founded in the 1980s -- was responsible for informing new generations of the music of Link Wray, Hasil Adkins, et al. And anyone going to the annual WFMU Record Fair in New York City was certain of finding amazing stuff at Billy's table. He died at this home in Brooklyn in November 2016 at the age of 62. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
