Biography
Icky Blossoms' combination of brooding synthesizers, danceable drums, and self-assured melodies are as welcome on the dancefloor as they are at the gym. The band formed in Omaha, Nebraska in 2011, bringing together singer/synth player Sarah Bohling and singer/multi-instrumentalists Derek Pressnall and Nik Fackler (who indie film fans may recognize as director of the Independent Spirit nominated Lovely, Still), who became acquainted through the Omaha arts scene and Pressnall's side band from Tilly and the Wall, Flowers Forever. By early 2012, Icky Blossoms signed to Saddle Creek, who released the band's self titled, full-length debut that July. Produced by TV on the Radio multi-instrumentalist Dave Sitek, the album featured "Babes," which Rolling Stone described as a "girl-power dance anthem." Recording at ARC Studios in Omaha, they worked with collaborator Mike Mogis to deliver their follow-up LP Mask which arrived in May 2015. ~ Chrysta Cherrie, Rovi
