Biography
If Jubilee sound like Love and Rockets meets Nine Inch Nails with a little Black Rebel Motorcycle Club mixed in, there's good reason. The Los Angeles-based group has recorded with members of all the above thanks to co-founders Aaron North and Michael Shuman, and their large circle of alt-rock friends. North had played with Nine Inch Nails while Shuman was a member of Queens of the Stone Age plus the band Wires on Fire, where he had played alongside future Jubilee guitarist Jeff Lynn. A hard time finding a permanent drummer led to recordings with BRMC's Nick Jago and NIN's Trent Reznor on drum machine, and then the Willowz's Loren Shane Humphrey became an official member but was soon replaced by the Icarus Line's Troy Petrey. After being signed to North's own Buddyhead imprint, the band participated in the label's innovative style of online music distribution. A subscription service was offered where the customer would receive digital downloads of all Jubilee's 2008 recordings beginning with the Rebel Hiss single, released in January of that year. It was also announced the group's coming debut album would feature Petrey plus various guest drummers including the Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Bauhaus' Kevin Haskins, and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
