Biography
The daughter of composers Nelson Ângelo and Joyce and sister of Clara Moreno, Ana Martins started in the music business at four, participating in her mother's recordings (such as Clareana, a song named after her and her sister). A member of children's choirs, she took part in the recordings of albums by Xuxa and Os Trapalhões, and on the LPs Balão Mágico, Bloco da Palhoça, and Trem da Alegria. She also participated on the soundtracks to the TV specials #Plunct Plact Zuum and #Verde Que Te Quero Ver (Edmundo Souto/Paulinho Tapajós). Martins collaborated as a backing vocalist on recordings by Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento, Roberto Carlos, Gonzaguinha, João Nogueira, Ivone Lara, and Cazuza. As a member of the dance group Corpo Livre, she was awarded with third place at the Joinville Dance Festival. With Joyce, Martins performed in Brazil and in the U.S. (at the show Brazilian Season at the Ball Room of New York, NY, in 1992). From 1995 to 1999, she was a member of the vocal group Celacanto and in 1998, she launched her career as a solo artist. Her first CD, Futuros Amantes, came in 2000. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
