This name comes up a few times in connection with bass players, but this particular reference will have no rival for importance since this Arthur Edwards actually wrote a book, -Stuck Outside of Phoenix, with a main character that is a bassist. Personal experience went into the creation of this literary character -- bassists would not want it any other way -- with Edwards the founder of a '90s Phoenix, AZ, combo known as the Refreshments. So far, this artist's entire creative output seems to deal with the experience of this rock group, starting with the actual group's five-year period of activity, which included releasing three albums, then moving forward, or rather reversing to reflect back on that part of his life with the written word. He also spent five years creating -Stuck Outside of Phoenix, an equilibrium of real time in which readers who are really hungry for gossip may sniff for signs of thinly disguised real events.

Musically, Edwards' scent has genuinely lingered long thanks to soundtrack presence on the theme for the cartoon show #King of the Hill. He began playing bass and singing as a child in Moline, IL, lived in Phoenix through most of the '90s, and subsequently spent time in both California and Oregon. Since publishing his book, Edwards has returned to playing music, collaborating in settings such as the ensemble Friends of Betty and as a solo performer. He should not be confused with the older bassist of the same name who played with jazz and blues greats.
