Biography
Jimmy Edgar and Travis Stewart (best known as Machinedrum) join forces as JETS, producing futuristic club music which fuses multiple genres, including house, IDM, R&B, and hip-hop. The group debuted their complex, funky hybrid sound with a self-titled EP in 2012. Further EPs and DJ sets throughout the decade led up to the duo's 2019 full-length, Zoospa.

Detroit-born Jimmy Edgar first met Travis Stewart (originally from rural North Carolina) when both artists were performing in Miami around the beginning of the 21st century. They bonded over music, particularly the glitch-hop movement emerging at the time, and both artists released material on the Miami-based Merck label. Edgar soon went on to sign with Warp, while Stewart (as Machinedrum) would later release well-received albums on Planet Mu and Ninja Tune. The two both spent time living in New York City, but by the time they first collaborated as JETS, they had both relocated to Berlin. The four-song JETS EP was released by Leisure System in 2012, and the duo began touring, appearing at several music festivals throughout 2013. The duo's cover of Midnight Star's 1986 hit "Midas Touch," featuring vocalist Jamie Lidell, was released in 2014. Lidell then appeared on The Chants, JETS' vocal-heavy second EP, which was recorded in Los Angeles and appeared on Edgar's Ultramajic label in 2015. Edgar later built a home studio in Portland, Oregon, and the duo began recording their debut album in 2017. Arriving in May of 2019 on Innovative Leisure, the ambitious, sophisticated Zoospa (credited to J-E-T-S) featured guest appearances from Dawn Richard, Mykki Blanco, Rochelle Jordan, and others. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
