Biography
A prolific singer/songwriter, film composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, and the frontman/founder of popular Midwest folk-rock outfit the Fruit Bats, Chicago native Eric D. Johnson, who also records under the moniker EDJ, has proven himself to be a versatile and unpredictable artist since emerging in the late '90s. He released of string of well-received albums with the Fruit Bats, mostly through Sub Pop, beginning in 2001 with Echolocation and more recently with Tripper in 2011. Within that same time frame he appeared on albums by Califone, Sally Timms, Vetiver, and the Shins, the latter of whom he joined for a time, and in 2010 he issued his first film score with the romantic comedy Ceremony. Subsequent film works included original scores for Our Idiot Brother, Smashed, Nature Calls, After Tiller, Goodbye World, Date & Switch, and Life Partners. He has produced albums by Breathe Owl Breathe (2013's Passage of Pegasus) and Cardigans vocalist Nina Persson (2014's Animal Heart).
