Bone Thugs
Biography
Cleveland rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rose to worldwide fame in the mid-'90s with their unique style of multi-syllabic flow and lyrical gymnastics. Taken under the wing of gangsta rap legend Eazy-E right before his death in 1995, the group scored several chart-topping hits and multi-platinum albums in its early days, and continued to release music and tour for years to come. Throughout the ensuing decades, the collective went through various peaks and valleys, with various internal conflicts resulting in heated lineup shifts, members leaving and returning to the fold, and prolonged hiatuses. In 2017, core members Bizzy Bone and Krayzie Bone announced a new collaborative duo project splintering away from the group but with the foreshortened title Bone Thugs. Working with a huge cast of guest rappers who included each of the other three BTNH members, Bun B, reggae vocalist Stephen Marley, and Uncle Murda, the duo released debut album New Waves in the summer of 2017. While looking at the album as a step away from the established style of the larger group, Bizzy and Krayzie stated in interviews that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were still very much intact and working on new music in tandem with their new project. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
