Biography
Margo Lewis is best known in the '90s and beyond as the founder of Talent Consultants International, an agency whose clients include Bo Diddley, the Village People, and Wilson Pickett, as well as numerous contemporary musicians. During the '60s, however, she was one of the few female rock organists to attract a serious following among the press and her fellow musicians as a member of Goldie the Gingerbreads. Originally known as Margo Crocitto, she astonished onlookers with her playing. She was no less a rock keyboard star than Ian McLagan of the Small Faces, who counted himself a fan of Lewis' work, commenting that she "played her Hammond B3 organ like she was on fire." Lewis later played with such groundbreaking late-'60s/early-'70s female rock artists as June Millington before she went into talent representation in the '80s. She was responsible for organizing the Bo Diddley/Ron Wood Gunslingers Tour (and the live album that came out of it) in the '80s, and also brought David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks together with Hall Oates during the mid-'80s. Lewis made a brief return to the performing side of the business when she played organ on Bo Diddley's 1996 Grammy-nominated album A Man Amongst Men. In 1998, Lewis became Diddley's touring keyboardist. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
