Biography
French group Zombie Zombie play propulsive, analog synth-based music equally drawing from Krautrock, horror soundtracks, and house, along with additional influences such as dub and space-age jazz. Their music has received praise from Iggy Pop and primary influence John Carpenter, both of whom they have covered. Their debut album, A Land for Renegades, appeared in 2008. Since then, they have released film scores such as 2014's Loubia Hamra as well as additional studio albums like 2022's Vae Vobis.

Zombie Zombie formed in Paris in 2006, initially as a duo consisting of Étienne Jaumet, who plays vintage synthesizers and Theremin as well as saxophone, and drummer Cosmic Neman (formerly of Herman Düne), who also handles tapes and effects. Later on, they were joined by Jérôme Lorichon (Doctor Lori Schönberg) on drums as well as trumpet. Zombie-Zombie, their debut EP, appeared on Boomboomtchak Records that year, including a cover of the Normal's "Warm Leatherette." They signed to French house label Versatile Records and released the single "Driving This Road Until Death Sets You Free" in 2007. First album A Land for Renegades arrived in 2008, including a cover of Iggy Pop's "Nightclubbing." Subsequent EP Dog Walker appeared later in the year, and in 2010, they released the EP Zombie Zombie Plays John Carpenter. Their 2011 single "Nothing to Say" was backed by a cover of Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream."

The group's second album, Rituels D’Un Nouveau Monde, appeared in 2012. Its cover of Sun Ra's "Rocket Number 9" was released as a single, and was sampled by Lady Gaga on her song "Venus." The group's first film score, Loubia Hamra, was released in 2014. Studio album Slow Futur and soundtrack Irreprochable both appeared in 2016. The dub-influenced Livity was released in 2017. The group's soundtrack for the film L'Heure De La Sortie was issued by L'Age D'Or in 2018. Zombie Zombie returned in 2022 with Vae Vobis, their first album for Born Bad Records. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
