Biography
Austin-based trio Troller combine all the best elements of shoegaze, goth, industrial, and drone into their intense brand of 21st century darkwave. The group was founded in 2010 by singer/bassist Amber Goers and synthesizer players Adam Jones (also of the uncategorizable Thousand Foot Whale Claw and the John Carpenter-worshipping synth quartet S U R V I V E) and Rosemary French. The group began gigging around Austin's dive bar scene, and a self-titled cassette appeared on Living Tapes in late 2011. The tape was reissued by the newly formed Austin label Holodeck Records in 2012, and when it was issued on vinyl in 2013, it received ecstatic reviews from the underground music press. Handmade Birds released the album on CD, and the group continued playing gigs, gradually developing a darker, heavier sound. By 2016, French had been replaced by Justin Goers, and the trio released its second album Graphic. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
