Born Maya Shipman in 1987, she dubbed herself Suzi Analogue in tribute to RZA's moniker Bobby Digital. She first surfaced in 2009 with the digital release World. Excerpts 1-9 on Fresh Selects, and as part of the Klipmode collective along with fellow experimental hip-hop producers Knxwledge, Devonwho, and Mndsgn. Her 2010 release NNXTAPE featured production by artists including Teebs, Ohbliv, and Dibiase, and earned acclaim from the underground music press. Suzi's 2011 7" single NNXT (released by Dopeness Galore) featured a collaboration with Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins. She teamed up with Tokimonsta to form the duo Analogue Monsta; their debut full-length, Boom, was released by Scion Audio/Visual in 2012. 2014 saw the release of cassettes Chills + Thrills and Love Affairz V.1 (with Swarvy) on Never Normal.
In 2016, she issued the mainly instrumental Zonez V.1 and V.2, which took her sound in a more uptempo direction, influenced by Chicago's footwork scene. Her ties to the scene solidified when she appeared on Teklife-affiliated producer DJ Earl's Open Your Eyes LP, and collaborated with him under the name WORKFLOWW. Zonez V.3 appeared in 2017, with DJ Taye, also of Teklife, guesting on one track. She released "Never Normalize," a collaboration with King Britt, in early 2019, and Zonez V.4 included guests like Junglepussy, RP Boo, and Michael Millions. Suzi issued several singles and EPs throughout 2020 and 2021, including Su Casa, and she remixed Dawn Richard's song "Boomerang." In June 2022, she joined the music faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a teaching assistant professor. The same year, Disciples released Infinite Zonez, a compilation of material drawn from the Zonez mixtapes. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
