Biography
Incite is a Phoenix, Arizona-based groove metal outfit fronted by Richie Cavalera, the stepson of heavy metal polymath Max Cavalera of Sepultura, Soulfly, Nailbomb, and Cavalera Conspiracy fame. Employing a brutal amalgam of thrash and groove metal, the group emerged in 2004 with a lineup consisting of Cavalera, drummer Zak Sofaly, bassist Luis Marrufo, and guitarist Kevin Dis McAllister, and issued a pair of EPs, Murder and Divided We Fall, in 2006 and 2008, respectively. In 2009 the band released their debut full-length effort, the I Scream Music-issued The Slaughter, followed by tours with Soulfly and Dillinger Escape Plan. They inked a deal with Minus Head Records for their sophomore effort, 2012's All Out War, which was produced by former Machine Head and Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader. McAllister left the fold shortly after the album's release, and was replaced by Gene Macazan. A huge lineup shift that saw the departures of Sofaly, Marrufo, Macazan, and the arrivals of Derek Lopez, Christopher EL, and Dru Rome, preceded the release of the group's third full-length outing, 2014's Up in Hell. That lineup would continue to make noise on subsequent offerings Oppression (2016) and Built to Destroy (2019), the latter of which was produced by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Suicide Silence). ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
