The Fog isn't really a band, but rather a caveat former Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis has given to fans to distinguish his full-band sound from his acoustic recordings. When Mascis appears in connection with the Fog, it's a signal that he'll be shattering windows and damaging eardrums with his mind-melting levels of guitar feedback. Though the Fog is semi-fictitious, there are a few who can lay claim to being its regulars. On tour, the Fog has featured former Minutemen bassist Mike Watt and former Dinosaur Jr. bandmate and drummer George Berz.
