Biography
Bruce Henry, one of the best double bassists in Brazil, has performed several times in the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Brazil. He started early as a professional musician playing dances in Spain, and settled in Rio de Janeiro in the '70s, having toured and/or recorded with Jim Capaldi, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Fagner, Ney Matogrosso, Jards Macalé, and Marcos Valle. Henry formed the groups the Outcasts, Soma, and Banana Eufórica. After some years living abroad, he settled in Rio again in the '80s to lead his Bruce Henry Quartet. From then on, he has been working with Joyce, Marina, Leila Pinheiro, Jacques Morelenbaum, Johny Alf, Herbie Hancock, Tom Jobim, Francis Hime, Moraes Moreira, and other artists. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
