South Korean singer, model, actor, and dancer Kai began his musical journey as a member of K-Pop group EXO, its sub-group EXO-K, and later the SuperM K-Pop conglomerate, before branching out and going solo in 2020. Already an established presence, Kai brought the same blend of sleek pop, party rap production, and R&B smoothness that made EXO a smash hit to his self-titled 2020 solo EP, also known as 1st Mini Album.

Kai was born Kim Jong-in in 1994. As a teenager, he joined EXO in 2011, making his first public appearance with the group in 2012. Over the next several years, Kai made music with EXO and pursued an acting career, landing roles in various web dramas and television shows. In 2019, new supergroup SuperM formed, comprised of Kai and members of NCT, Shinee, and fellow EXO member Baekhyun. In 2020, Kai's first solo work appeared with his self-titled EP and its lead single "Mmmh."
