Led by vocalist Coco Hayley Gordon Moore (daughter of indie rock royalty Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore), Big Nils deliver a raw mix of Sonic Youth-ian guitar dissonance, riot grrrl-inspired visceral energy, and tried and true teen rebellion. Joined by guitarist Zoe Wardlaw, bassist Lilly Daiber, and drummer Sen Morimoto, the group formed in Northampton, Massachusetts, opening for the Corin Tucker Band in 2010 and performing at female-centric nonprofit arts festival Ladyfest in 2011. They self-released the album Sibling in spring 2011, recorded by Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., the Hold Steady, Sonic Youth), and took a cue from Pissed Jeans by bringing a screeching intensity to otherwise mundane topics like doing laundry, getting locked out, and arguing with the parental units. ~ Chrysta Cherrie, Rovi
