It’s rare that artists become hotly tipped favorites on the back of their debut single, but after dropping into the drill game with “County Lines,” Streatham’s Frosty (born Theo Beckford) found himself touted as one of the scene’s most promising new talents. With a loose, dismissive vocal style akin to contemporaries like M1llionz, Frosty soon landed a placement on staple U.K. freestyle show Daily Duppy and a feature from Queen’s Park rapper Fredo for a remix of “County Lines.” Through the early stages of 2020, the newcomer moved to expand his discography, issuing chilly, cocky anthems like “H20,” “Super Trapper,” and “Hate on Us” (alongside OFB’s Bandokay and DoubleLz). The roll-out for his debut tape began with its eponymous single, “Under Surveillance," an icy drill anthem with back-to-back verses alongside Homerton's Unknown T. The tape itself was soon to follow. Under Surveillance compounded Frosty’s gliding drill style with new ventures into trap and trapwave, featuring Teeway, Dirtbike LB, and K-Trap. ~ David Crone, Rovi
