Biography
Choral conductor Mack Wilberg discovered an interest in choral music as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he joined a vocal ensemble made up of fellow missionaries called New Horizons. Completing his missionary work in South Korea, Wilberg attended Brigham Young University, where he studied composition and piano. He went on to receive a master's degree from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, where he also earned his Ph.D. in music. He was the director of the BYU Men's Chorus and the BYU Concert Choir, and participated in the American Piano Quartet, where he performed and made arrangements for the group. He also served from 1999 to 2008 as the associate director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and music director of the Temple Square Chorale. As a composer, Wilberg has written and arranged music for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and his works have been performed by the King's Singers, Frederica von Stade, Renée Fleming, Bryn Terfel, Audra McDonald, David Archuleta, and Natalie Cole, among others. Wilberg received the Raymond W. Brock Memorial Commission from the American Choral Directors Association in 2006, and he was named the music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 2008. ~ Blair Sanderson, Rovi
