Juliane Werding
Biography
Since 1970 when she won a nationally televised talent contest, Juliane Werding has been a popular pop/rock singer in her native Germany. One of her biggest hits came in 1972 when she released Am Tag als Conny Kramer Starb a German language interpolation of the Band's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Her 1975 single Wenn Du Denkst Du Denkst, Dann Denkst Du Nur Du Denkst placed number four on the German charts, and in 1983, she had another hit with Nacht Voll Schatten a cover version of Mike Oldfield's Moonlight Shadow. In 1986, her ninth album Sehnsucht Ist Unheilbar, spent over a year on the charts. Her popularity continued throughout the '90s with her best-of album (Der Weg 1972 -- 1999) and a duet with British singer Howard Jones (I Remember) capping off the decade. She kept recording and touring throughout the 2000s but also dabbled in acting -- in a German language version of +The Vagina Monologues -- and written numerous books dealing with religion and spirituality. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
