Matteo Bocelli was born on October 8, 1997, in Forte dei Marmi, Italy, the younger son of Andrea Bocelli and his first wife, Enrica Cenzatti. His older brother Amos is a pianist, and his younger half-sister Virginia is also a singer. Matteo took up the piano as a child, taking lessons at the Lucca Conservatory while in school, and in 2015, he began taking singing lessons with his father; he later attended the Lucca Conservatory for a degree in vocal performance. Bocelli made his stage debut in 2016 at the annual summer concert at the Teatro del Silenzio in his father's hometown of Lajatico, singing Verdi arias alongside such notable operatic figures as Sumi Jo and Leo Nucci. The following year, Bocelli made his U.S. debut at the David Foster and Friends Competition in Washington, earning audience acclaim, joined star Jennifer Lopez in an ad campaign for the Guess clothing company, and performed at the Colosseum for his father's charity event Celebrity Fight Night; other notable performers at the event were Steven Tyler, Sir Elton John, and José Carreras.
In 2018, Bocelli made his recording debut on his father's album Si, joining Andrea on the duet Fall on Me. Released as a single, the song was accompanied by a video featuring father and son, and could be heard on the soundtrack to the film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Following a performance with his father at the 2019 Royal Variety Performance for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Matteo was heard on the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's 2020 album Disney Goes Classical, performing Sir Elton's Can You Feel the Love Tonight from the Lion King. Signed to the Capitol Records label, Bocelli released his first single, Solo, in 2021. More singles appeared in 2022, including Until She's Gone, a duet with Sebastián Yatra. Also in 2022, Bocelli joined his father and sister Virginia on the album A Family Christmas, and he made his on-screen acting debut in the film Three Thousand Years of Longing; he also performed on the end credit song Cautionary Tale by Tom Holkenborg. Bocelli's debut solo album was scheduled for release in 2023. ~ Keith Finke, Rovi
