Bekon
from Long Island, NY
Biography
American singer/songwriter Bekon made a name for himself as Danny Keyz, a Los Angeles-based producer who worked with DJ Khalil, Emile Haynie, Dr. Dre, RZA, Snoop Dogg, and more. Born Daniel Tannenbaum in Long Island, New York, he made his production debut in 2009 with Fabolous on the track "Imma Do It," going on to work with Cypress Hill, Redman, and eventually BJ the Chicago Kid, which garnered him a Grammy nomination for songwriting in 2016. However, it wasn't until a chance meeting with Kendrick Lamar that his path would change. After working on Lamar's Grammy-winning album DAMN., Tannenbaum was encouraged by the Compton rapper to pursue his own solo career as a singer/songwriter. Tannenbaum took his advice, adopting the moniker Bekon and issuing the soulfully psychedelic single "Cold as Ice." The track was included on his Brian Wilson-influenced debut album, 2018's Get with the Times. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
